The future of Cannabis in DC

American sales of weed in the last few years has created an estimated 320,000 jobs and just over $25 million in sales. In October of this year, legislation that prevented the sale of cannabis for the next 7 years in dc was omitted from a Senate appropriations bill which could open the door to the legalized sale of weed near me.

DC legalized the possession of weed, for adults, in 2014 and Maryland Republican, Andy Harris, proposed a bill that has been consecutively renewed every year since 2014. This bill is known as the ‘Harris Rider’ has finally been omitted from 2022 and appropriations from the House of Representatives has also left it out despite Biden’s intent to restrict the sale in his proposed budget plan.

This is a really interesting turn of events, and it means that if the Harris Rider is not included in the final version of the appropriations bill then DC local government officials can move forward with the legalization of the sale and usage of cannabis for adult use, pretty exciting right? Well there is a lot that could follow this because there is still no map to these uncharted waters.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser is a step ahead having already proposed the local legalization of recreational and medical weed dispensary near me, as well as the parameters for the infrastructure needed for the industry to function.

Curious to learn how this will affect weed delivery in dc. The biggest interest regarding these new laws will be the tax revenue. It’s past time for this to happen, with DC sandwiched in between 2 states that have already moved forward.

Today, a bill that was potentially devastating to the unregulated sale of weed in dc was removed from the literature, which could have fined unregulated stores $30,000 and shut them down for 3 days.

Activists are pressuring local leaders to legalize and the rally in DC today at was testament to the growing support from the community. This begs the question, DC weed delivery are you ready for us?
