Do you know what day is today?

Last Monday of May, today you will see a lot of images of hotdogs, hamburgers, swimming pools, and summer time but most importantly to honor the men and women who died and sacrifice their lives serving the US military, the heroes who gave us freedom and luxury life today. It was formerly known as Decoration Day. We will observe many Americans visiting cemeteries or memorials and holding family gatherings and participating in parades. It was an annual act of remembrance, as well as a chance to clean and decorate family memorials. It is the time to remember those who lost their loved ones serving the country. The one who wasn’t able to come back home to be reunited with their family after a long period. This is the time to support the loved ones who are left behind as well as reflect that every life that is taken was freedom of each one of us today.

May 30 is designated to strew or otherwise decorate graves of comrades who died defending the country during the late rebellion. It is made an official holiday year in 1890. It is the most solemn American holiday, a day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the nation. Some state holds a big parade, with citizens holding and wearing red poppies to symbolize those who have fallen during the war. This is to ensure that the sacrifice of America’s fallen heroes is never forgotten. And to remind and encourage the people of the United States to give something back to their country, which provides them so much freedom and opportunities.
