Pride Month Is Back! Here’s How to Celebrate
These 30 magnificent days, which take place every June, are devoted to entertainment, learning, and activism in the cause of the LGBTQ community.
While some of the more extravagant Pride Month festivities have been put on hiatus for the previous few years due to the outbreak, all of your favorite gatherings, marches, and other events are finally back in full swing this year, giving the community plenty of opportunity to rejoice.
There are a plethora of ways to join in Pride Month festivities in Washington this year, from the main events on June 10-12 to unique kind of drag performances, rainbow-themed runs, and so much more, thanks to the city's countless queer bars and parties. Here’s how you should be celebrating.
Don’t Miss Out On the Main Events
Given that this is the first Capital Pride Parade in several years, it will undoubtedly be a smashing success. It all kicks off on Friday, June 10 with Revolt!, the designated Pride Month kick-off celebration. That night, head to Echostage for a one-of-a-kind inauguration ritual including performances by regional, nationwide, and international gay talent.
The Capital Pride Parade returns on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., with a new route designed to honor our history and reflect the progress of the LGBTQ+ communities in Washington, DC, while recognizing the roots and significance of marching through the streets in our struggle for equality.
Hit the Club
Pride Month is a fantastic occasion to blow the metaphorical (and actual) cork, and clubs and bars all across DC are making it simple by hosting celebrations throughout the month.
Queer Prom Night at lesbian club A League of Her Own will kick things off on Saturday, June 5. This rainbow-themed night of celebrating your genuine self is meant to overcome any unwanted recollections you may have of your high school dance.
Admire Queer Art and Music
The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, DC presented a musical on LGBT history just at Lincoln Theatre on Saturday, June 4. The event was only be held twice, both on the same day, and used a variety of musical styles to tell major tales from American LGBTQ history, ranging from the Lavender Scare to the AIDS outbreak.
Queer art activities will take place throughout the month at Dupont Underground, ranging from a new art show called "The Gender Within" to Queer Tango dancing workshops every Tuesday in partnership with the Embassy of Argentina. The venue will feature an interactive musical encounter with live artists on June 18.

Speaking of controversial subjects, weed and the LGBT have several things in common. They're both struggling for legalization. Moreover, they both have been associated with a negative connotation in society through history.
