Weed Growing Nuns !
I could not believe when I saw this article on weed growing Nuns and I thought this could not be true. After reading the article and doing a little research this is in fact very true.
Christine Meeusen who goes by sister Kate for the last 7 years has been growing weed in Merced, California. Sister Kate created a sisterhood called Sisters of the valley. Their sisterhood believes that growing weed is not just about the money but about healing with herbal medicine.
So let’s give a you a little background on Sister Kate after life changing events throughout her life in 2014 she decided to make cannabis tincture and sell it to provide for her family. Not only did she do that but she also started wearing a nun custom. Although she is not a real nun she still believes that this helps to symbolize her beliefs. In 2016 Sister Kate started growing cannabis and making products using CBD like some oils and teas on her farm in Merced, California.
Once quoted by sister Kate “
We are walking and marching into a world where we will have weed nuns in every province on the planet and every county and province in the world,” Sister Kate says. “When people see us in our veils they will know what we represent just like they do [when] a fireman [is] in his uniform.”
The Sisters of the valley are not your typical nuns they use the Beguines religious orders of the Middle Ages. This is not like your average Catholic nuns because they are not Catholic or even apart of a church at all . The Beguines were apart of the earliest forms of feminism. Their sisterhood believes in the purpose of economic self-sufficiency and dedicated themselves to God and acts of good service.
Currently they have included men and their family include 25 sisters and 5 brothers. They continue to provide products for all over the world.
