Celebrating Pride

While the month is coming to an end, we couldn't let the month go by without showing our support for the LGBTQ+ community. 

When relating marijuana and homosexuality, while for those younger it may feel like legal dispensaries and queer representation was always a thing yet, as recent as the 2000's both were seen as taboo topics in society.  In fact while it may appear coincidental that the fight to end cannabis prohibition and the fight for LGBTQ+ happened on a similar timeline. However, the truth is that without LGBTQ+ activists there would be no medical marijuana and definitely no recreational cannabis dispensaries. 

Why, you might be asking?

Studies have shown that members of the LGBTQ community are more likely to consume cannabis, but the initial push for medical marijuana legalization in the US came in response to the AIDS epidemic which disproportionally affected LGBTQ+.
