It’s 4/20 !!!

Happy 420 ! from the Lucky Chuckie Fam!!

THE UNOFFICIAL-OFFICIAL CANNABIS CONSUMER HOLIDAY IS APRIL 20. Even non-pot smokers are aware that 4/20 refers to marijuana, as seen by weed-friendly regions and hotels advertising themselves as "4/20-friendly." It is, however, a celebration that is normally shared with a few friends or a small group at home or in a semi-private portion of a public park well away from children.

The term 420, which is most often attributed to police codes, actually began in 1971 in Marin County, California, when five San Rafael High School pals who enjoyed pot would meet after class at 4:20p.m. by a statute of chemist Louis Pasteur. One of the guys became a roadie with a member of the band Grateful Dead, who caught wind of the code word created by the one-time students, and the rest, they say, is history.

More states are welcoming pot with open arms. Legalization is coming, despite the remaining anti-science moralizers. 420 is a time to celebrate the growing acceptance of its healing pleasures. It is the annual day of the year when cannabis enthusiasts light up, nibble an edible, laugh, eat, light up again and relax.

Legality of cannabis by U.S. jurisdiction

The medical use of cannabis is legal with a doctor's recommendation in 37 states, four out of five permanently inhabited U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia (D.C.). Eleven other states have laws that limit the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), for the purpose of allowing access to products rich in cannabidiol (CBD).

The recreational use of cannabis has been legalized in 18 states, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and D.C. Another 13 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands have decriminalized its use. Commercial distribution of cannabis has been legalized in all jurisdictions where possession has been legalized, except for D.C. Personal cultivation for recreational use is allowed in all of these jurisdictions except for Washington State and New Jersey. Those States and Washington D.C allow recreational cannabis, but not all have gone so far as observing 4/20 in a public manner. Yet in the biggest, most cannabis-friendly cities in the US, there are large public 4/20 parties with live music, food, and seminars. These parties are excuses to stock up from the best dispensaries in the US and take in all that there is to see. These are the four biggest 4/20 celebrations in the US any cannabis lover needs to hit up.
