The Grind

We all have been grinding at life, so thank goodness for grinders which grind the beautiful plant, cannabis, for us.  A grinder is a magnificent device that helps you break cannabis into smaller bits. There are various ways to grind cannabis without a grinder, and there are also a wide array of grinders with varying grinds. Grinders are primarily used to speed-up the process of breaking weed apart and storing weed. There are so many kinds of grinders, from simple card sheets to 4 or 6 chamber grinders with kief catchers below the screen that collect potent crystals which fall off the buds in the process. Kief is a gorgeous asset to top your bowls, joints, or even press into your own hash or cook into some tasty treats, think of it as that truffle salt seasoning you save for certain treat dishes .

There is a science to the best smoke and it all depends first and foremost on the grind. Aside from the nug itself, the teeth to a grinder and your spin-power, dictate the quality of your grind. The quality of a grind varies based on its purpose, and that quality is a major factor in determining the burn efficiency.

Bowls require an interesting pack, because most splendidly they would be packed with an initial thick, or nugglet weed piece, then layered with a fairly fine grind, and topped of with a layer of kief. However, you should always consider the opening of the bowl and the size of the bowl when determining the kind of grind that would be best suited for that size, fitting, and smoke.

Joints require a thorough consistency, and a fine grind will allow a perfect texture and smoke throughout, but watch-out for the distribution, if it is not well-distributed, and too tightly packed, you may need to massage it to ensure the perfect air-flow. The size of your paper and the shape of your joint can also contribute to the grind you may require, for example if you want a small, regular or king size joint, or if you want a thick, fat, or thin and long, or short joint.

Blunts require a thicker grind due to how much space you are filling, and some people swear it should be broken down by hand. I personally still subscribe to a grinder with thick-teeth, only because I like to be certain that the weed is packed in smooth without any bumps for the smoothest smoke possible, but if there is any place to have bumps, it’s a blunt!!

Vapes also benefit from a fine grind because it helps to speed up the vaporizing process, in which it vapes evenly and in solid transactions. It definitely needs more help because it doesn’t involve direct fire or combustion, so it requires you to make it as easy as possible to vaporize since it is not being lit or burned and is working at a low-temperature.

Happy Friday and Check out Lucky Chuckie to sort out any of your cannabis needs!
